Quick Guide: Lawn Equipment

Updated: 3 days ago

We have a wide range of lawn and landscaping equipment that can tidy and refresh or completely revamp your outdoor space.

Ideally you'll want to use a Petrol Lawn Aerator for the best results, after a heavy downpour of rain. This type of aerator is also known as a corer since it pulls out a plug of soil and allows for a deeper penetration, greater absorption of nutrients and increases soil permeability.

If you have a smaller space or don't want to go for a larger machine, we have a Spiked Lawn Roller. Similarly, you'll want the ground to be soaked well and you fill the drum with water to add weight to allow the spikes to penetrate your ground effectively. Regularly aerating can also minimise the chance of needing to dethatch your lawn.

A turfcutter is used to remove turf, still in intact condition, by setting your depth of cut underneath your grass in long strips which can then be rolled up for convenient removal and possible repurposing.

Please note turf cutters will require quite dry soil to be effective.

Rotary hoes turn over soil in preparation for new turf or garden beds. They will require your soil to be dry during use.

The counter-rotating tyne feature breaks up the most difficult soil, clay or sod. Wheels and tynes work independently of each other to allow your rotary hoe travel speed to be adjusted to the soil conditions.

A lawn scarifier is used to dethatch your lawn. Thatch builds up between your soil and grass roots, preventing your lawn from breathing or absorbing nutrients and can cause a patchy lawn.

The lawn scarifier will remove unwanted moss, weeds, dead grass and other natural build up of debris through cutting grooves into your soil.

Before starting, you'll want to mow your lawn to the lowest possible grass length.

This process is ideally done in late Spring or early Summer and after you have mowed your lawn to the lowest possible grass length. Following with a corer or manual aerator and fertiliser is also a great idea to promote fast growth and recovery after the dethatching process.

For transportation, we recommend a Ute or Trailer with ramps for our lawn aerators, turfcutters and rotary hoes. We do not recommend trying to lift manually, they are both self propelled and will be able to be driven up and down ramps.

Alternatively we do offer competitive delivery and pick up rates within the Sutherland Shire and surrounding areas, please call our team for quotes and availability.
